I grew up on Buffalo Creek in Amherstdale and know some of the history and the beauty of Kelly Mt. and Blair Mt. area. my grand father, father, and brothers mined coal and my Father Huston H. Daniels was part of the union organizing at the Lorado Mining Co. at Lorado on Buffalo Creek and I was told as a kid about the things that were done to them for trying to organize my Father was beat and ran out of Buffalo Creek two times and threaten to be killed if he returned. but he did retrun and helped in the organizing of the union at Lorado. I’m very proud of my heritage and to say I’m from the Coal Fields of Wv. I think the schools should teach about the organizing of the UMWA and the Battle of Blair Mt. the battel site should be preserve because it’s the site of the biggest civil uprising to date and because mining back then was nothing short of slavery
